Ideal for children and travel drum

Description/Styles:

Traditional West African drum carved from a single mahogany log. Mortar-shaped, has a single membrane of goat or antelope skin stretched over the top. Hand drum that produces three sounds, slap, tone, and base.

Gankogui ~ Percussion

Description/Styles:

West African two-part bell (high low) made of blacksmith iron. Played with a stick. Usually plays breaks/calls and/or polyrhythm with in a drum ensemble.


Sheraka ~ Percussion

Description/Styles:

Hand-held percussion instruments from West Africa which is made from a calabash or gourds that has a woven net of beads, seeds or shells on the exterior.

Primero ~ Hand Drum
Ideal as a lead drum for classroom teachers, performers and facilitators

Description/Styles:

Traditional a Garifuna drum carved from a single mahogany log, covered with has a single membrane of goat or dear skin stretched over it. There are tuning pegs on the exterior inserted between the ropes, which connect to the rim. On the top of the drum, three guitar strings or fish line which produced a unique sound similarto the snare drums. The Primero within a traditional ensemble directs the musical changes and calls the songs for the others’ response.

 

Segunda ~ Hand Drum
Ideal as a lead drum for classroom teachers, performers and facilitators

Description/Styles:

Traditional a Garifuna drum carved from a single mahogany log, covered with has a single membrane of goat or dear skin stretched over it. There are tuning pegs on the exterior inserted between the ropes, which connect to the rim. On the top of the drum, three rope with knots a tied inch apart that creates a base sounds.
The Segundo drum is the base drum within a traditional ensemble that holds the tempo and rhythm.

Traditional French Canadian Hand held Percussion instrument carved from a single piece of wood in the shape of spoons.

 

First Nations (Frame Drum) ~ Drum

Description/Styles:

Traditional First Nations Drum used in by various tribes. Hand held drum played with a mallet. Circular Frame drum covered with buffalo or dear skin. Played with a mallet produces a deep-based sound.
